Introduction

The Training & Placement Office of SPCE :

  • Nurtures Industry Institute interaction, by organizing and coordinating industrial visits, internship trainings and projects of industrial relevance for the students.

  • Receives and forwards the feedback pertinent to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the departments, to ensure that the curriculum follows the latest industrial trends.

  • Helps every student define his/her career interest through individual expert counseling.

  • Makes available updated database and job profile of the companies and thus helps each student analyze and choose company of his/her interest.

  • Organizes and coordinates Campus Placement Program, to fulfill its commitment of a good career to every student of the Institute.

  • Works towards continuing education for the college students and faculty members. Over the years, the office has maintained symbiotic, vibrant and purposeful relationship with Industries across the country and as a result, has built up an impressive placement records.

Procedures

  • The placement procedures commence by sending placement invitation to the companies enclosing a brief summary of the academic curriculum. A Job Response Form (JRF) is also sent to the recruiters asking details about company, job description, salary, etc.

  • In response, companies submit completely filled Job Response Form (JRF) to the T & P office.

  • The Training & Placement Officer conducts an orientation program for the students during which, placement procedures, placement policy, etc. are discussed and all the doubts, students may have, are addressed.

  • Then the placement office collects students' information in the Bio-data form.

  • The company has a choice of visiting the campus for a Pre-Placement Talk either before the selection processes or along with the final recruitment.

  • On receipt of confirmation and JRF, the placement office announces the requirements of the company, thereby allowing interested students to indicate their willingness to participate in particular companies' Campus Recruitment Procedure and resumes of these students are then submitted to the company.

  • The company shortlists the candidate from the application pool and then sends the same to the Placement Office. A mutually convenient date for the selection processes is finalized.

  • The company is required to present the final list of students as soon as possible (preferably on the same day), after completion of the selection process.

  • Feedback from the recruiters about students performance and quality is collected and is passed on the respective departments for further necessary action, if any.

  • The offer letters of the selected students are sent by the companies to the Placement Office which is then handed over to the students. Acceptances of the offer (provided by the students) is received and sent to the company by the Placement Office.

Placement Policy

  • Every student, who wants to avail the Training & Placement services, has to register with Training & Placement Office, failing to which they cannot have any claim on T & P Services. Every student who registers with T & P Office is bound by the terms and conditions in this Placement Policy.

  • Companies visiting college for campus recruitments are categorized as Core Engineering Companies and Non-Core Engineering Companies, on the basis of job profile offered by them and their business domain. Non-Core Engineering Companies are further categorized as Normal and Dream Companies on the basis of reputation of the company and salary offered. The status awarded to each company will be announced from time to time by the T & P Office.

  • Every student, who fulfils the eligibility criterion specified by the company, may attempt the recruitment process of any company until he/she gets the first offer. If this first offer is from Non - Core Normal Company, to acquire second job offer, students may participate in the recruitment drives of Core Engineering or Non-Core Dream Companies, as per their choice. No further attempts will be permitted to the students who have secured offers from Core Engineering or Non - Core Dream Companies, irrespective of job profile, salary offered, etc. If a student secures an offer from Core Engineering or Non-Core Dream Company, his/her Non-Core Normal Offer, if he / she has secured before, automatically stands canceled. This is applicable to the offers secured through Campus Placement or PPOs.

  • Students who are applying for higher education will be permitted to participate in campus recruitment of Non-core Normal companies and certain Core Engineering Companies, whose names will be announced by the T & P Office from time to time. They are encouraged to avail higher education counseling facilities provided by T & P Office. These students will have to intimate T & P office about their higher education plans and submit the copy of admit card / score card of various entrance exams they have appeared for. The students who secure Core offer / Non-Core Dream offer will not be allowed to go for higher studies for a period of atleast 2 years.

  • Once registered, students will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature, from a particular campus recruitment drive unless there are some exclusive points mentioned in the pre-placement talk of which the students were not appraised of earlier. In such a case, exceptions can be made only after the consent of the TPO. Any student who withdraws candidature, rejects offer at any stage, absents from any rounds during recruitment process without sufficient reason, will not have any further claim for T & P Services.

  • Any student, who approaches the company officials for revaluation of aptitude test, etc. or attempts any type of canvassing during the campus recruitment, will be disqualified from T & P activities permanently.

  • It is compulsory for the students to attend and perform well in the Mock Tests, Training Sessions, etc. organized by T & P Office from time to time for progressive improvement of students.

  • Students are required to note that the Training & Placement Services is a facility offered by the Institution and cannot be construed as a guarantee of a job offer. The decision regarding making job offers is left to the discretion of the companies participating in the Campus Recruitment. At the end of academic year, if any students are not placed, T & P Office will extend support to such students, only for off-campus recruitment drives.

  • Students need to note that breach of any of the terms and conditions / clauses mentioned in this policy would attract a penalty which may be withholding the required documents.

Career Guidance

Effective Career Guidance Services Including Counseling for Higher Studies

Facility

  • Institute has tie up with leading Overseas/Higher Education Consultants whose representative is available within the Institution once in a week to guide students about higher education opportunities abroad.

  • Institute have tie up with leading Management Education Institutions such as CPLC who guide students about Management Education Opportunities in India and abroad.

  • Each Department has its own Seminar Halls with seating capacity of 60. SPCE also have a well furnished Conference Room with seating capacity of 120. We share an auditorium with capacity of 250 with our sister Institute, SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, within the same campus. These facilities are used extensively for various training activities.

  • Institute avails Soft Skill Training Services for students from Professional Training Institutions.

  • T & P Office maintains a small library of books related to Training & Placement activities.

  • Institution is a member of National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and the NEN Cell is coordinated by a Faculty Member along with many Student Volunteers.

Management

  • T & P activities start from 3rd Semester of Engineering itself.

  • In earlier semesters focus is on grooming students so as to make them more compatible with Industry demands.

  • Periodic Seminars of experts from Industries are organized by T & P Office.

  • Experts from various industries, such as TATA Consultancy Services (TCS), Larsen & Toubro Engineering, India Tube Mills and Metal Industries Ltd. and R & D Laboratories such as Babha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Society for Applied Microwave Engineering & Research (SAMEER), visit Institution on various occasions to interact with students.

  • T & P Office also conducts Soft Skill Programs for Students.

  • T & P Office also conducts mock quantitative aptitude tests, technical aptitude tests, group discussions in order to prepare students for Placement Interviews.

  • Career guidance facilities help students to decide and prepare for their career options well in advance.

  • Every year approximately 30 % of the students go for higher education at various Indian and International Universities.
